Obituary

William Dickson Fritz, 83, passed October 27th. Born to Cecile Harman and Howard C. Fritz in Douglas, AZ on January 19, 1921. He had one sister, Maralyn Dare.

William attended Texas College of Mines in El Paso. He was commissioned into the US Marine Corps on October 23, 1943 as an airplane pilot serving until 1947 but was then recalled from inactive duty on November 2, 1951 through April 20, 1953. During his duty he achieved the rank of Captain, received 3 Air Medals and the Korean Medal with 2 stars. He returned to civilian status and resumed working for the Southern Pacific Railroad where he met and married Virginia C. Fausnacht in 1951. They had three sons, William D. Jr., Howard Clay, and Robert Thomas.

After both he and Virginia retired from the railroad, they traveled the world seeing Hong Kong, Spain, Australia, and Mexico among many other places until her death in March, 1999. William is survived by his sister Maralyn Dare Dieter, son William and his wife Denise, son Howard, son Robert and his wife Silvia Merjil-Fritz and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5-9 pm, on Saturday October 30, 2004 at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral service is scheduled at 1 pm on Monday, November 1, 2004, at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery where he will rejoin his wife in everlasting peace. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast.
