Hometown: St. CharlesWilliam H. Zepp, 92, of Batavia, formerly of St. Charles for many years, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 6 at Batavia Rehabilitation Center in Batavia. He was born Jan. 6, 1918 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of William J. And Anna (Hardy) Zepp.
William was a Navy veteran having served during WWII as a Seabee in Iwo Jima. While in Iowa he worked for the John Deere Company, he then moved to Chicago, and the Fox Valley area where he was a Teamsters Union steward. Throughout his working career he worked in the distribution of goods, both for Warner Bros. in Geneva, and Gossard in Batavia.
He was a member of both the St. Charles, VFW Post No. 5036, and the American Legion Post No. 342.
Mr. Zepp is survived by his children, James W. (Barbara) Zepp of St. Charles, Suzanne (Jerry) Cornett of Ashville, Ohio, and Jude Zepp Fairbank of Geneva; grandchildren, Cynthia Zepp Schwartz, William B. (Margarita) Zepp, Philip (Lori) Cornett, Renee C. Magill, Kenneth D. (Kellie) Cornett, Nicole C. (Joshua) Betts, Theresa Fairbank, and Jacob Fairbank, great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Schwartz, Dylan Zepp, Kayla Prignano, Zachary Zepp, Austin Zepp, Andrew Joseph Magill, Kaytlyn-Marie Magill, Nicholas Cornett, Dakota Cornett, Briar Cornett, Vivienne Cornett, Sean- Michael Betts, Anna-Rochelle Betts, Cole-William Betts; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vivienne (Hammon) Zepp on Nov. 24, 1983, one grandson James C. Zepp, and five sisters, Mary Louise Pedigo, Betty Anderson, Jeanne Hammerle, Virginia Reed, and Tillie Watson.
A funeral service for Mr. Zepp was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., in St. Charles, IL. Visitation was 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, at the funeral home.
